The rule

Manglik dosha is traditionally formed when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the lagna. Because it depends on houses, it needs an accurate birth time.

Classical texts also give cancellations, for example Mars in its own sign or exalted. The check applies them and tells you which one, if any, cancels the dosha in your chart.

What it does and does not mean

Manglik dosha is discussed mainly in marriage matching. It is one factor among many, often weighed against the other chart, and not a verdict on a marriage. Some astrologers also count from the Moon and Venus; this check counts from the lagna.

Frequently asked questions

What is Manglik dosha?
Manglik (Mangal or Kuja) dosha is traditionally formed when Mars occupies the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the lagna. It is mainly considered in marriage matching.
Can Manglik dosha be cancelled?
Yes. Classical rules cancel it in some placements, such as Mars in its own sign or exalted. The check reports the cancellation that applies to your chart, if any.
Do I need my exact birth time?
Yes. Manglik dosha depends on the house Mars occupies, and houses depend on the lagna, which changes about every two hours.
Is being Manglik a problem for marriage?
It is one traditional factor, usually weighed together with the partner's chart and the full Guna Milan, not a reason for fear on its own.
